Result of a six month, self carried project, this installation showcases a multilayer process.
First of all the research. By digging into old crafts techniques, I got interested in the batik hossi process, that, by scratching and concentrating matter was creating patterns. I kept this interesting process of concentration to associate it with cymatic.
A stretched cloth is prepared with UV reactive ink. Black sand is spread all over evenly. Under the installation two transducers are placed and get activated at a precise frequency to make the cloth vibrate, allowing the sand to concentrate on certain parts. One the defined pattern is done, UV light is placed over to “cook” the ink not protected by the sand. Once rinsed the color appear.
Every part of this project has been thought and developed by myself, from the process, the printing method, to the pattern of the jacket and the structure.
I wanted to get full hand on every layer of this project to showcase it in a small exhibition that could speak for itself and be understood by anyone.
